The beauty category stoppe reporting revenue from 2020 onwards because Burberry chose to restructure its approach to the beauty segment by entering into a licensing agreement with Coty Inc. in 2017. This decision was aimed at leveraging Coty’s extensive experience in beauty to enhance Burberry’s brand presence in the cosmetics market. As a result, direct revenue figures for the beauty category are no longer reported from 2020 onwards.

Revenue compared to other luxury brands

From 2012 to 2023, Burberry’s earnings slowly increased from £1857 million to £3094 million, showing steady but modest growth.

In contrast, Gucci’s growth was much quicker, with its earnings nearly tripling from £2885 million in 2012 to £8455 million in 2023.

Chanel and Hermes stood out with the most significant earnings jumps. Chanel, started reporting revenue in 2016, saw its earnings go up to £13606.96 million by 2022. Hermes upped their revenue from £2996.24 million in 2012 to an impressive £11547.22 million by 2023.

Although Burberry did grow over these years, its growth was not as significant as that of Chanel and Hermes.
